Admission Process/Fees/Policies

A. Philosophy
Meadow View Junior Academy was established especially for the education of the children and youth of the Seventh-day Adventist Church; however, membership in the Seventh-day Adventist Church is not a requirement for admission. Admission is open to students who have a keen desire to grow spiritually, academically, physically, and who meet all requirements as outlined in this handbook. Admission to the school is a privilege and not a right and may be withheld or withdrawn by the school at its discretion and in harmony with its philosophy.

B. Student Equality
Meadow View Junior Academy admits students of any race, religion, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, national and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational and admission policies, scholarship and loan programs and other school administrative programs.

C. Age
Though it is recommended that students be at least seven years of age before enrolling in first grade, a child entering the first grade must be six years of age by October 1. A child entering Kindergarten must be five years of age by October 1.

D. Criteria for Admission
Final acceptance to Meadow View Junior Academy is granted based on the following criteria and completion of admission procedures:

  1. Student and parent interview

  2. Receipt/completion of all required forms

  3. Receipt of transcripts and other documents, including health forms

  4. Age appropriate for grade, as applicable

  5. Testing completed and acceptable

  6. Financial arrangements completed

  7. Proof of appropriate immunizations

  8. Physical examinations for all new students and students entering 4th
    7th, and 9th grades. Must be completed by October 1.

  9. Student’s willingness to cooperate in the school program

  10. If a student has an unpaid account from the previous year, he/she  
    will not be accepted until all previous accounts are arranged for with the finance committee.

  11. Approval of the school board.

E. Parental Commitment
Parents seeking admission of their children into the school place themselves on record as being in harmony with the principles and objectives of the school and pledge to assist in every way possible to support the schools philosophy and its program.

F. Testing
All new students must be tested prior to entering school to assist in planning their education program and/or grade placement. Parents are responsible for scheduling their child’s testing date. Documented evidence of all previous school records must be submitted. All new students are accepted on a provisional basis for a nine-week period.

*Financial Information
A. Payments/Billing
All payments must be mailed or given to the secretary/ treasurer, Michelle Fisher. Make all checks payable to Meadow View Junior Academy. Please keep all receipts for your records.

A $25 service fee will be charged to the parent/guardian’s account for any check returned due to insufficient funds. After the third returned check, a Money Order, Bank Check, or Cash must be used to pay accounts.

All statements will be sent out by the 25th of the month preceding the  month the bill is due. Bills not paid by the 15th of the month in which they are due will have a $10 late fee added.

All accounts must be paid in full by May 15th, in order for the student to take his/her final exams. Report cards or student transfers will not be released until all accounts are paid in full.

1. Ten equal payments. The first payment is due by September 10th.

No student’s enrollment is complete until all financial arrangements are made. Any request for special arrangements concerning tuition or fees must be addressed to the Finance Committee.

B. After-School Care Charges
Students must register for After School Care at the time of registration. Rates for this program are set by the staff and are available at the time of registration.

C. Additional Fees and Charges
Private music lessons are available by arrangement with the music instructor.

D. Textbooks
Students rent all textbooks. The textbook rental fee is included as part of the registration fee. All books must be returned to the school at the close of the school year. If a textbook assigned to a student is lost or becomes damaged beyond normal wear and tear, the replaced cost will be billed to the student’s account.
