Junior National Honor Society

Membership in the Meadow View Junior Academy Chapter of the Junior National Honor Society is an honor bestowed upon a student. Selection for membership is by the faculty council and is based on outstanding scholarship (cumulative GPA of 3.50), leadership, character and service. Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities. To be eligible for membership the candidate must be a member of the 8th, 9th or 10th grade class and must be in attendance at Meadow View Junior Academy for one semester.

Student Offices

Elected Office Requirements: No major office holder may have D or F and any other elected officer must have a cumulative C average of at least 2.0. All elected officers of student organizations must have acceptable citizenship and maintain it. Any officer who receives a suspension of any kind during the year will forfeit the office.

A student holding a major office will not be allowed to run for another major office, but can hold a minor office. Major offices will consist of the following:
SA President, SA Vice President, SA Pastor, Newspaper Editor or Yearbook Editor, Class Presidents, Junior National Honor Society President.

 --Scholastic criteria for holding office:

  • 3.50 GPA for SA President
  • 3.00 GPA for SA Vice President, SA Pastor, Class Presidents
  • 2.75 GPA for Student Chaplain, SA Secretary, Treasurer, Sports Coordinator, and Public Relations Officer
  • 2.50 GPA for SA Parliamentarian, Sergeant-at-Arms and all other offices.

These GPAs are cumulative and officers of organizations must maintain grades no lower than a C, unless a higher average is indicated by the organization’s by-laws. If a student fails to meet any of these conditions, they must relinquish their position for the remainder of the school year. Eligibility to hold a major office will be based on the above condition for the cumulative GPA grade report immediately preceding the elections. Students can a hold a maximum of two offices only one of which can be a major office.
